How Meditation Saved My Life

I began daily meditation two years ago in April. But my abuela taught me how to meditate when I was very young. Around age 6 is how old I was in my earliest memories of mindfulness. When we would walk ten minutes in the Arizona heat to a shaded park where we meditated. Mind you, I have a fear of closing my eyes in public. Which could be attributable to various reasons, but my abuela understood this and kept one eye open. This put my mind at ease and allowed me to maintain a clear mind. As a child, I figured that once I grew older, my thoughts would become easier to control. Which is so desperately wrong.
At the age of 18, I received a diagnosis that would isolate me and keep me bedridden for months. After some time, I grew to be severely depressed. An obtrusive yet comforting state of mind that came to visit me often but never like this. Truly the lowest peak of my life. Every day blended into the next, as it solely consisted of me just using the restroom a couple of times. Prior to this, I was already at war with my mind. So it’s safe to say this was salt on the MF wound. My sweet mother took care of me during this time which I am eternally grateful for. She also reminded me of the reasons why I should look forward to every rising.

Through meditation, I was able to pummel my severe MDD the slay boots house DOWN… to mild MDD. It is not easy surviving the fall of this capitalistic, damn near fascist, system. Here is why meditation is essential, especially NOW:

- Our lungs are the most trustworthy friends healers like us could ever have ✨
With our built-in besties, we can take control of any situation. The practice of breath work invites peace to every party. A reminder is when people say to take a chill pill or a deep breath. I take it upon myself to take approximately 20 of them, just because I can. Thank your lungs for working 25/8… 💖 To my lungs, thank you.
2. Meditation will take you to Dreamland…
This could pertain to literal vivacious dreams or the creation of a dream reality. But the practice itself can transport you to new worlds. In dreamland, I feel true peace. Relaxing and life building have never been easier. I naturally strengthened my personal relationship with God and my ancestors.
3. Opening up channels for Creativity!
Holding space for child-like curiosity is sacred in a recession. Even though resources play a major role in creating, meditation can create time frames and new ideas for any project. Poetry and painting have always appealed to me, but I was never taught to be creative. Only indoctrinated. So once I continuously meditated, it quickly became my fuel.
If anything I wrote resonated with you, I highly encourage you to read my meditation guide, which can be sent to you by simply entering your email address into the list. This way, I can keep you posted and send you sneak peeks at future projects! I would also love any feedback on what I have posted or should post! You can email me about all things once you are on the list!
Thank you for reading! ✨
